Voltage Droop Compensation for Marx Modulators*
Marx modulators operated by solid-state switches (e.g. MOSFET, IGBT) offer an alternative to traditional high voltage (HV) modulators for rf power sources. They have the merits of compact size, high-energy efficiency, high reliability, pulse width control and cost reduction. However, Marx modulators need a complex voltage compensation circuit if they are employed in long pulse applications such...
متن کاملTowards a Pebb-based Design Approach for a Marx- Topology Ilc Klystron Modulator*
Introduced by the U.S. Navy more than a decade ago, the concept of Power Electronic Building Blocks (PEBBs) has been successfully applied in various applications. It is well accepted within the power electronics arena that this concept offers the potential to achieve increased levels of modularity and compactness. This approach is thus ideally suited for applications where easy serviceability a...
متن کاملSolid State Bipolar Marx Modulators: Overvoltage Tolerance Capability
Two solid-state bipolar Marx modulators are compared in terms of semiconductors overvoltage tolerance capability in abnormal operating conditions such as switching synchronization failure. Simulation results are presented for 4 stages of two Marx circuits using 500 V per stage with 1 kHz bipolar pulse repetition rate, with 5 μs pulse width and 10 μs relaxation time into resistive load.
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Simulation of Multistage Depressed Collectors on Micro-Computers
AbstructA three-dimensional (3-D) package for simulation of asymmetric and crossed-field multistage depressed collectors for microwave tubes has been developed. This package is based upon the 3-D finite-difference code KOBRA3-INP. The main features of the package are a user-friendly input interface, postprocessors for collector analysis and calculation of secondary electron trajectories, and ve...
متن کاملKlystron Power Supply for Komac
A switching mode power supply (SMPS) is a hopeful candidate for the 1MW CW klystron power supply of KOMAC (KOrea Multi-purpose Accelerator Complex). The merits of the SMPS are low stored energy, small size, high rating efficiency and possible cost saving whereas the demerits are EMI problem and system complexities. The proposed power is 2MW and it is considered that the modules, each of which h...
